Pronunciation of -ED

Regular verbs in the simple past all end in -ED. however it is not pronounced the same way. The pronunciation of -ED depends on the final consonant sound. if the ending vibrates it should be pronounced /d/. if it does not it should be /t/. if the end of the verb already sounds like /t/ or /d/ it will be pronounced /ɪd/.

You can check if a sound vibrates or not by putting your hand on your throat. Careful, vowels always vibrate! Try to pronounce the consonant only. You can check which consonant vibrates or not on the phonetic alphabet.
